TOMS Eyewear: Buy Glasses, Give Vision

TOMS glassesFor years TOMS has been embracing the one-for-one philosophy of business. For every pair of shoes sold, they gave one pair to a child in need. Now they’re expanding this movement to eyewear. Black Mycoskie, company founder, believed that TOMS could be more than a shoe company. The first step of this new chapter in the company’s history was launched this week. The loss of sight has a dramatic impact on a person’s life. So if you need a new pair of sunglasses you may want to consider purchasing some that will help others as well. Read more about how buying sunglasses can help someone in need.

Ten Free Songs from Starbucks

summer song mixIt’s fun to have a summer soundtrack. Then whenever you hear those songs you’re reminded of that special summer. Well starting now Starbucks is helping you create your summer soundtrack. Whenever you buy a Frappuccino you’ll get a free 10-song Summer Mix playlist that you can download on iTunes for free. I just went to Starbucks this morning (I had a gift card!) and these were sitting on the counter for anyone to take. Here are some highlights according to Starbucks.com:

  • Death Cab for Cutie’s breezy “Underneath the Sycamore” may prompt you to pull out a blanket and basket and enjoy that Mocha Coconut Frappuccino® blended beverage picnic-style with a friend.
  • Parts & Labor’s “Rest” will likely cause you to open the sunroof, crank the music and head for open road.
  • Booker T. Jones’s twist on “Just a Friend” (featuring the song’s writer, Biz Markie, as well as Sharon Jones, and the National’s Matt Berninger) may spark a spontaneous dance party, so proceed with caution.
  • We Are Augustines (former members of one of our favorites of all time, Pela), will make you want to give your bicycle (or motorcycle, if singer Billy McCarthy has any say) a spin on a dusty country road.
