Pick Up Free Baby Food to Send to Haiti

This Formula Would Only Cost You $2

This Formula Would Only Cost You $2

My church is currently collecting items to send to Haiti for earthquake relief efforts. A member of my church has an aunt and uncle who run the Jean Cadet Restavek Foundation which has worked for years to end child slavery in Haiti. They are now setting up a clinic and working to keep the children safe after the earthquake destroyed so many buildings and lives. To aid this foundation’s efforts we are collecting items like blankets, non-perishable food, baby food and baby formula. The items can be dropped of at the Christian publishing house Ambassador International from now until February 5. The offices are located at 427 Wade Hampton Blvd. in Greenville. You can stop by Monday through Friday from 9-5 and Saturday from 10-2.

Today only if you become a fan of Babies R Us on Facebook, you’ll receive a free $5 e-gift card that can also be used in the store. The coupon will be sent to your email inbox after you sign up. It’s good until 2/20, but why not go ahead and use it now to pick up some free baby food or discounted formula to send to Haiti? According to what’s available online you’ll be able to score lots of free food or an 8-pack of formula for just $2 after you use your coupon. It won’t cost you much– or anything at all– and you’ll be helping a great cause!

Help Fund an Adoption With a $5 Puzzle Piece

puzzleI came across Ali’s blog, My God Given Mission Field. Ali and her family are trying to adopt which can cost thousands of dollars. They’ve come up with all kinds of creative ways to fund this adoption, one of which is by selling puzzle pieces for $5 each. When you sponsor a puzzle piece, they’ll put your name on it. Once the puzzle is complete the adoption will be funded. They plan to frame the puzzle and hang it in their new baby’s nursery so she/he will always have a reminder of the people that helped them find their forever home. You can support Ali and her family too– just make a donation through PayPal and play a part in this great story!

Fight Breast Cancer While Getting a Massage

massage4cureNo, getting a massage doesn’t actually fight breast cancer, but on Tuesday September 15 getting one will. For every massage done at Massage Envy on the 15th, they’ll donate $10 to Susan G. Koman for the Cure. It’s called Massage for a Cure and the best part about it? The 50-minute massage is only $35. So treat yourself and make a difference in the fight against breast cancer.

Support Twestival Local!

This weekend 133 cities around the world will be hold events for Twestival Local to raise money for local charities. I’ve been coordinating the Twestival in Greenville, South Carolina, the only one in our state! Our event is Thursday, September 10 from 5:30-7:30 at The Lazy Goat in downtown Greenville. We have nearly two dozen donated items for a silent auction, live tweeting, lots of giveaways and a budget friendly fashion show! Every penny raised will go straight to the Miracle Hill Boys’ Shelter, a charity chosen by a community vote back in August. The event is free, but a limited number of VIP tickets are still available. A local coffee shop, Liquid Highway is also hosting the Greenville Twestival After-Party from 7:30-10 where 10% of the proceeds go to Miracle Hill Boys’ Shelter. Still wondering what Twestival is? Stocking Up on Free School Supplies

free school suppliesNo, I don’t have any children but that doesn’t mean I’m not stocking up on free school supplies! So far I’ve picked up paper, tons of pencils, pens, and tape that will all go to help needy children prepare for heading back to class. If you don’t know of an organization in your area collecting school supplies try to connect with a teacher in your area through ILoveSchools.com. Teachers put in requests for their classrooms. Whether you need the school supplies yourself or you know an organization that does, there are plenty of places to get freebies or super cheap school supplies.

CVS

Through Tuesday (tomorrow) you can get free pencils, pens, paper, binders and more.

Walgreens

Through July 25 pick up 2 pocket folders, pencils, poster board and highlighters for $.09 each or packs of pens and pencils, rulers and paper clips for $.19 each. They’ve also got a bunch of other stuff for less than $1.

Publix

This is my grocery store of choice and they’ve got lots of cheap school supplies including crayons that are three for $1. I picked up two packs of mechanical pencils here for free using a Bic coupon I printed off the Internet.

Staples

There are lots of things that are free with Staples Rewards. You won’t get the credit until October according to the ad, but they’re promoting free backpacks, pencils, pens and highlighters.

Have you found more free school supplies? Let me know about it!

Shop For a Cause: Cute Gifts Help Guatamalan Orphanage

vespa cozyI just came across this cute Etsy shop this morning. I have a thing for Vespa’s since I spent about a week last summer riding one for charity. These Vespa cozies from Etsy shop Laurabucci are just $12 a piece, plus from now until the end of August a portion of your purchase goes to a great cause. Two dollars from each item sold in this online shop will go towards purchasing paint for Seeds of Love orphanage in Parramos, Guatemala. One gallon of paint is about $12.50 so each purchase will help significantly towards the goal of 40 gallons. You can also donate $2 without making a purchase by visiting laurabucci.com. I think this definitely is an example of doing more with your money.
